We contribute to shaping mathematics education at all levels and support young people interested in mathematics through accessible initiatives and targeted funding measures. oekam communicates the significance of mathematics, its current developments and opportunities to decision-makers in politics and society. We bring mathematical insights into practice and make the influence of mathematics on current developments across society — from technology to medicine — visible. Building on this increased awareness, we advocate for the promotion of mathematics in all areas.
To achieve these goals, oekam:

- fosters discussion on key topics,
- supports scientific contributions,
- connects experts and institutions.

The hexagon as a distinctive design element
One node is deliberately designed as a hexagon. This shape
- refers to mathematical structures,
- also evokes the “civilizational hexagon”, a model for stable and rationally organized societies,
- thereby connects mathematical precision with societal relevance and responsibility.
A symbol of modern applications
The hexagon evokes the structure of mobile communication networks, while the network structure recalls neural networks—two examples of how deeply applied mathematics shapes our everyday lives:
from communication and digitalization to artificial intelligence.
